Mariana Rossman
Mariana Rossman is an accomplished trial lawyer who has spent more than two decades representing individuals facing government investigations, criminal prosecutions and other matters where the personal and professional stakes are high. At Rohn Kurland Rossman her practice focuses on federal and state criminal defense, government and internal investigations, professional licensure and university discipline matters, and strategic litigation support.
Mariana herself guides clients through every stage of a matter. From government inquiries and subpoenas through motions practice, trial, sentencing and appeal –Mariana applies her extensive courtroom experience and deep understanding of federal and state criminal law to her clients’ individual situations.
Mariana began her career as an Assistant Public Defender in Philadelphia, where she spent six years representing court-appointed clients and taking hundreds of criminal cases to trial. She handled matters ranging from attempted murder and serious assault to burglary, weapons and drug trafficking offenses, and later served as a supervising attorney in the Juvenile Unit, mentoring newer lawyers.
Experienced. Responsive.
After leaving the Defender Association, Mariana joined Dilworth Paxson’s White Collar and Corporate Investigations Group, representing corporate and individual clients in complex civil matters, healthcare litigation and compliance, internal investigations, and state and federal grand jury matters. She later became a partner in a firm concentrating on criminal defense and family law before founding The Rossman Firm, where she built a practice focused on criminal defense and professional and university disciplinary matters. Mariana’s experience also includes four years representing plaintiffs in complex national asbestos and environmental litigation, adding significant civil and mass-tort experience to her trial background.
Trial advocacy has been a defining thread of Mariana’s career. She earned an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law, graduating second in her class with honors, after earning her J.D. from Temple where she was a regional champion and national semifinalist on the National Trial Competition Team. She later returned to Temple as an adjunct professor of Trial Advocacy and coached the school’s national trial team.
Together, Mariana’s courtroom experience and service to the profession reflect the preparation and sound judgment she brings to every client experience.
Mariana’s commitment to the legal community is equally longstanding. She serves on the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and has held numerous leadership roles with the Federal Criminal Law Committee, including Chair, and currently serves on its Advisory Committee. Her longstanding involvement with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project has included service on its Board, and she now serves as Emeritus Council.
Outside the law, Mariana is happiest outdoors—hiking, kayaking or skiing. She also loves exploring the country by RV with her husband.
